The COVID-19 outbreak, to a lesser or greater degree, has had an impact on everyone’s lives.

Celebrities who already recovered from the coronavirus include actor Tom Hanks, talk show host Andy Cohen, and Duran Duran member John Taylor.

Sadly, several people in entertainment were not as fortunate and passed away as a result of complications with the virus. Among them are playwright Terrence McNally; Alan Merrill, the singer-songwriter who co-wrote popular song “I Love Rock and Roll;” folk singer John Prine; jazz-funk musician Manu Dibango; Lee Fierro, an actress who appeared in “Jaws;” musician Adam Schlesinger, cofounder of band Fountains of Wayne; Mark Blum, an actor in “Desperately Seeking Susan” and “Crocodile Dundee;” Japanese comedian Ken Shimura; Andrew Jack, who played Caluan Ematt in “Star Wars” movies; Jay Benedict, who appeared in “The Dark Knight Rises,” prolific actor Allen Garfield, in films such as “The Candidate,” with Robert Redford; and jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis Jr.

Miguel Bosé, a singer famous throughout much of Latin America and Europe, lost his mother, Italian actress Lucia Bosé, infected with COVID-19. Federico Fellini’s “Satyricon” was one of her most celebrated films.

Our heart goes out to the families of everyone affected by this pandemic. While waiting for it to end, Heart of Hollywood is encouraging its members and friends to share a picture of a heart with a positive message written inside on social media. Please use hashtag #shareyourheartslove, and be sure to read the uplifting words others have proffered.

If you need a distraction from the news, use this time to enjoy the TV shows and movies you haven’t had time to indulge in. Popular ones such as “Tiger King” will surely give you something to talk about during phone conversations with many people you know, but don’t hesitate to explore more obscure ones as well; you could discover new favorites.

Do you understand Spanish? You might also enjoy watching videos where my friend Gilda Baum-Lappe—one of the people who determines who gets a Golden Globe—and I discuss different films and how we feel about them. Go to , , , , or .

Things will get better soon. In the meantime, stay strong. Stay healthy.
